The Lazy Day of the Summer

Today there is nothing much to talk about because we used this day to relax and be lazy.

We slept in late and got up to a late breakfast and then returned to the motel room where I started playing my game of Babble and Eb worked on adding pictures to the blog.  He even went back to some of the earlier blogs, so now every day has a picture.

Then we drove north along Allison Creek and every few miles it would widen out into a little lake.  We went up to a picnic area on Allison Lake and enjoyed a quiet picnic right along the shore of the lake and even enjoyed getting out two of the books that we had brought along but hadn't yet had time for them.  It was very peaceful in this serene setting until five carloads of young people arrived with all of their variety of inflatable chairs, tubes, boats and their packs of beer.  Luckily it didn't take them long to get them all inflated and they disappeared out into the cold waters of the lake.

We did meet a family from BC who breed and train dogs  to show and have come out to West Virginia to deal with a woman in the Eastern Panhandle.  They have golden retrievers and had two dogs with them   They gave us some suggestions that we are going to follow for where to go as we head west from here tomorrow.

By late afternoon we returned to the motel and got the next week scheduled as to where we are going, what motels will be reserved, and what ferry we will take to get out to the Olympic Peninsula.  Thanks to Uncle Steve we had good information about the best ferry to take across.   It is so convenient to have the free wireless in all of the motels.  We have definitely come to rely on it in making reservations, checking schedules, locating maps and directions, and getting information on places to see.

We walked around this section of the town and then on to a Greek restaurant for dinner.  The meal was good, but not as good as the first one in Washington.  We did split an excellent piece of cheesecake for dessert - and then walked it all off getting back to the motel to get our things sorted and packed up.

We will stay in BC tomorrow and see more of the Cascade Mountains and the Fraser River and then on Tuesday we will cross back in to the United States and get the ferry just south of Bellingham and head out to the Olympic Peninsula for the next chapter in our adventure.
